![]() Country music is in dire need of some pure heartfelt soul right now and good ol’ Rod is like a secret weapon-he's loaded with down-home soul. Rod possesses a deep baritone with loads of soul, while Rose has a sweeter tone that combined creates a kind of sugar-and-spice concoction that works rather well. Theses duets recall the golden days of George and Tammy, Conway and Loretta and Porter and Dolly without in any way sounding dated or retro. It is a blissful, euphoric set that provides a proper dose of endorphins and gratitude. Granted, that’s hardly an original tack, but the couple’s approach is clearly convincing, and it’s hard not to get swept up in the overall sincerity, expression and conviction. It’s evident from the song titles that the major theme here centres around love, and its appreciation and enticement are expressed through a series of songs stirred by pure, unvarnished sentiment. Those duets obviously led to the recording of this five-song EP. Rose has joined her hubby singing back-up vocals on stage for a few years and also performed a couple of duets with him on his 2019 CAUGHT UP IN THE COUNTRY album. She signed her first recording contract with Columbia when she was 14 and has gone on to make her mark as a successful songwriter. Rose Falcon, his wife of nine years, is the daughter of rock singer Billy Falcon. Despite scoring half-a-dozen country chart-toppers, his career has lacked radio-play consistency. He’s been signed to Curb Records for more than 25 years, but only released five albums. and I’m not talking about that manufactured ‘country’ that’s coming out of Nashville right now. His is true country, reminiscent of Strait, Travis and Hag. Tennessee born and raised Atkins has country in his blood. Husband and wife couple Rodney Atkins and Rose Falcon have individually enjoyed somewhat chequered careers in music.
